Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $1,000 from the -Nipp CIA', 1580
Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96814. These funds are being given to provide support to the
County's recovery efforts in West Hawaii, from the March 11, 2011 tsunami.
The Nippon Club was established in 1973 to promote understanding between Japan and
Hawaii, and to contribute towards business development opportunities with local partners in
Hawaii.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
funds into the Office of Management's OCE account.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution to accept and acknowledge a donation of $1,000 from the Nippon Club. Funds
will be used towards the March 11 tsunami recovery efforts in West Hawaii;
And, a bill for an ordinance to amend the FY12 budget to appropriate the private contribution funds into
the Mayor's Office Miscellaneous Charges account.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Nippon Club was established in 1973 to promote understanding between Japan and Hawai`i, and
to contribute towards business development opportunities with local partners in Hawaii. They have
donated some monetary funds for the March tsunami's recovery efforts that's underway on the Big
Island.

Dear Mayor Kerioi:
March's Tsunami had adversely affected not only Japan but also your Island of Hawaii.
Recovery has been challenging under existing economic conditions. With optimism
about our future, any difficulties may be overcome by our communities working together.
In this spirit, the Nippon Club would like to contribute $1,000 to the recovery efforts
undergoing on your island.
Nippon Club was established in 1973 to promote understanding between Japan and
Hawaii, and to contribute towards business development opportunities with local partners
in Hawaii. Our club is also actively involved as a volunteer service organization in the
annual Aloha United Way fundraising campaign. Members are primarily Japanese
Hawaii -based corporations and Japanese nationals. Honorary members are the Counsel
General of Japan and Deputy Counsel General of Japan.
After the recovery, we will all emerge as viable and stronger communities. Together we
can overcome the challenges that lay before us.
