AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-267, schedule 15 (One way
streets), subsection (c) South Hilo, item (6), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended to read as follows:
(6) Kapiolani Street. All vehicular traffic shall move [only from the Hamakua
to the] in the Puna direction[,] between [Ponahawai Street and]
Waianuenue Avenue[,] and Haili Street between the hours of [five a.m.]
5.00 a.m. and [one p.m.] 1:00 p.m. on Sundays.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, section 24-280, schedule 28 (No parking
at anytime), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding by following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
Lj Kapiolani Street, makai side, Ponahawai Street to Haili Street
Lj Kapiolani Street makai side Haili Street to Waianuenue Avenue except
between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. on Sundays.
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, section 24-281, schedule 29 (Parking
prohibited during certain hours on certain streets; two -away zones), subsection (c) South Hilo, of
the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995• edition), is amended by deleting the following item:
[(11) Kapiolani Street, makai side, between Ponahawai Street and Waianuenue
Avenue except on Sundays between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and
12:00 noon.]
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material Munderscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
