Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 69, reports as follows:
Bill 69, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 264, dated
July 6, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11-59, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30,
2012. The amendment is as follows:

The County of Hawaii has been awarded a $150,000 federal grant through the State of Hawai`i
Department of the Attorney General.
These funds are for the purpose of enhancing awareness and prevention of elder abuse and
exploitation, and to expedite the prosecution of such cases.
An Elder Abuse and Exploitation Grant account was appropriated for $125,000 in anticipation of
grant funding for FY2011-12. Amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the additional
funds into this account, bringing the total grant appropriation to $150,000.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.

recommends it pass first reading.
