Dear Mr. Arakaki,
This is a letter of recommendation for Kevin Balog's appointment to the County Board of
Appeals. I've known Kevin for the past eight years and have worked with him while he served
as President of the Honoka'a Business Association and he is now serving as Vice President. In
addition Kevin has been instrumental in procuring funds necessary to launch many new projects
in Hamakua from the State and County. Kevin has the kind of temperament and knowledge that
would help the Board of Appeals make good decisions for the County of Hawaii. We, in
Hamakua, feel he did an outstanding job on the Planning Commission and this experience will be
advantageous to the County Board of Appeals.
On a personal level, I have enjoyed working with Kevin through the Honoka'a Business
Association and on other projects in the community because he gets the job done, has a great
personality and communicates well with people. He would be a great asset to any County
appointment and would serve the County well on the Board of Appeals.
