Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 111-11, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 111-11, transmitted jointly with Bill 78, by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via
Communication No. 285, dated July 21, 2011, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation
of$500 to the Hawai`i Police Department to be used to purchase equipment and supplies for the
National Night Out Event on August 2, 2011. This event is held to increase public safety
awareness and to support safe communities.
Community Police Officer Brian Ellis appeared before Your Committee. Officer Ellis provided
the Council committee members a brief explanation of event and participation of our local
Neighborhood Watch programs, community members on the night of event.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 111-11,
and recommends its adoption.
