SUBJECT: RECONSIDERATION OF BILL 311
To the Honorable Council Members:
The 161 Members of the Hawaii Island Contractors Association strongly supports
reconsideration of Bill 311.
In addition to providing the much need construction jobs, the projects included in the Bill
will keep our children off the streets will new and renovated parks, additional transitional
housing, provide faster emergency response time and provide a stimulus for economic
development by providing Kapiolani Street Extension.
New council members Smart and Blas have excellent suggestion for improving the bond
authorization. We would like to thank Councilman Hoffman for agreeing to propose
amendments to Bill 311 to incorporate specific language designating the projects that will
be funded.
