SUBJECT: RECONSIDERATION OF BILL 311
To the Honorable Council Members:
My name is Leslie Isemoto, President of Isemoto Contracting Co., Ltd.. We are a local
contractor doing business on the Island of Hawaii for the past 85 years.
Isemoto Contracting strongly urges all of the Council members, to reconsider Bill 311.
We have employed as many as 435 workers throughout the Big Island, but are now down
to 200. By the end of this year we may be down to 100 employees.
Bill 311 will provide the much needed construction projects that will keep our employees
working. In particular the Kapiolani Street Extension will improve traffic flow, and
provide a stimulus for the future growth of the University of Hawaii at Hilo, as well as
private commercial business. Therefore, the immediate effect will put construction
workers back to work and provide future development of the University of Hawaii at Hilo
campus which we all can benefit from.
We sincerely hope you will reconsider Bill 311 for the future of our Island.
