Re: "Motion to Reconsider" relating to Communication 972.5 (requests
the reconsideration of Bill 311 relating to the issuance of general obligation
bonds).
The Chamber represents both large and small businesses on Hawaii Island and
has approximately 300 member businesses comprising more than 700
individual members. In their best interest, we wish that the Council approve a
motion to reconsider the $56 million bond authorization, Bill 311, which will
allow amendments to incorporate suggestions by Pete Hoffman, Brittany Smart
and Fred Blas.
These amendments would tie the specific projects to the bond authorization and
would include the HOVE transfer station and Kalanianaole sewer projects in
Bill 311 and would delete most of the work that was proposed for Waiohinu.
Based on the above, we hope the County Council will approve a motion to
reconsider Bill 311.
