Do you realize how difficult it was to get the 2% for land fund originally established ? cn cam, Do you realize how precious and rare a concept this is, anywhere? To have voted against this citizen initiative process is really quite unbelievable. It's not going to make up for budget shortfalls, not even close. We need to come up with new and better ways to raise revenue, like increasing taxes on million and multi - million dollar houses, resorts and golf courses for starters. Let's show some mettle and take on the elephant in the living room, not raid a popular, critically - important land conservation program. When pristine conservation land goes unprotected, it's bought and sold and sold again. When pristine conservation -worthy lands are developed, they are wild no more. Forever. To add insult to injury, if I'm not mistaken, several of you actually broke promises to never do such a thing. I for one will not forget this. I'm very disappointed. Sincerely, John Lyle Ka'u Comm.
