RESOLUTION NO. 126 11
STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
OCEAN SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY THE HAWAII FIRE
DEPARTMENT'S OCEAN SAFETY DIVISION
WHEREAS, the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation is donating new
Ocean Safety equipment to the Hawai'i Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the equipment consists of four (4) Surftech rescue
surfboards, two (2) Zoll automated external defibrillators and eight (8) Recreonics
Fanon megaphones; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with a total value of $9,963.36, will be used
by the Hawaii Fire Department's Ocean Safety division to facilitate the delivery of
safety services, preventive actions and basic emergency life support by Water
Safety Officers; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawai`i County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations
of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County
Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property
which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may
be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of
this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of
this resolution be sent to Ms. Laura Mallery- Sayre, Daniel Sayre Memorial
Foundation, P. O. Box 1285, Kailua -Kona, Hawaii 96745, acknowledging this
generous donation.
