I live on the mainland at this time but I plan to move to the Big Island when my house sells. I read about the
proposed plastic bag ban on the Hawaii Tribune - Herald website. I fully support the ban and I believe that
progressive measures like this make the Big Island even more appealing as a destination for travel or relocation.
Although my current community does not have a ban in place there are some businesses that have chosen not to
offer them, and instead offer paper bags or sell very inexpensive reusable bags. I have visited other communities
that do ban plastic bags. The businesses and their customers are doing just fine without them.
Thank you for considering this very forward- thinking action.
