Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Clarence Souza of Hamakua to the
Hawaii County Civil Service Commission to replace Barbara E. Dart of Kamuela,
whose term will expire on December 31, 1998.
Mr. Souza is a lifetime resident of Hawaii and has been retired since 1994. Prior
to retiring, he was the Division Representative and Business Agent of the ILWU
Local 142 (1981-1991), and the Industrial Relations Officer with the Hamakua
Sugar Company (1992-1994).
He holds membership to the Hamakua Housing Corporation, the Hamakua
Medical Center, the Paauilo Community Athletic Association, the Hamakua Task
Force, and the Hawaii County Police Commission. Mr. Souza states that he is
not affiliated with any political party.
If approved, Mr. Souza will serve a term to end on December 31, 2003. Should
the Council need further information regarding this nomination, you may contact
