RESOLUTION NO. 144 11
STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF
$750 TO THE HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT TO BE USED TOWARDS TRAINING AND
TRANSPORTATION COSTS OF A CANINE TRAINER
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Children's Justice Center, West Hawaii is donating
$750 to the Hawaii Police Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to cover training and transportation costs
associated with bringing a canine trainer to Hilo to work with a dog and handler; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30,
Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money,
securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the
Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that cash
donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process;
and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution
be sent to the Friends of the Children's Justice Center, West Hawaii, 77 -6403 Nalani Street,
Kailua -Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging this generous donation.
