These funds are being given to the Hawaii Police Department to help cover the costs to bring a canine trainer to Hilo to work with a dog and handler. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the funds into the Hawaii Police Department's miscellaneous "Training" account. It is our understanding that once in Hilo. the trainer will conduct additional training with the dog and its handler as well as the handler of another recently acquired tracking dog in West Hawaii.
