ManfreQt, o the g§unty of Hawaii Windward Planning Commission ' ` rri Dear Chairperson Yagong and Council Members: 00 Thank you for this opportunity to offer my strong support of the nomination of Mr. Chi'tophe. Manfredi to the County of Hawaii Windward Planning Commission. I have known Mr. Manfredi both personally and professionally in his role as the Manager of Ka'u Farm and Ranch Co., LLC. I strongly believe that Mr. Manfredi possesses the necessary skills and leadership qualities required to effectively serve on the Windward Planning Commission. I have no doubt that he will serve his community with distinction and bring a wealth of experience to the Leeward Planning Commission. Since moving to Ka'u, Mr. Manfredi has served as a strong advocate for agriculture, as evidenced by his numerous board memberships, and also in his capacity as the current and founding president of the Ka'u Farm Bureau, and organizer of the very popular annual Ka'u Coffee Festival in Pahala. Through his service in these various capacities, Mr. Manfredi has developed an intimate knowledge of the challenges farmers face each day. Mr. Manfredi has a keen awareness of these challenges, because he has faced them himself. As many farmers in Ka'u will probably agree, Mr. Manfredi works tirelessly to promote Ka'u coffee as one of the best coffees in the world. He has personally spearheaded the effort to raise the profile of Ka'u coffee by pursing national and international recognition of Ka'u coffee and its farmers. He works regularly with other Ka'u coffee farmers to enter national and international coffee competitions and due to their recent success at these events, Ka'u coffee now ranks among some of the world's best coffee. His involvement in the community and his experiences since moving to Ka'u has prepared him well to take on this new challenge. Mr. Manfredi has earned my respect, confidence, and trust. I strongly urge your support of Mr. Manfredi's appointment to the Windward Planning Commission. Thank you. Jason Knable P.O. Box 701 Hilo, Hawaii 96721 9/6/2011 Qom Ref. T eh Ref. Do
