The U. S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is providing
Federal funds of $17,202.25 for the purpose of supporting the Prosecuting Attorney's
office's participation in the Hawaii Airport Task Force program. The goal of this program
is to disrupt narcotics and dangerous drug trafficking in Hawaii. Enclosed is a resolution
to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the U. S. Department of Justice for
this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $17,300 Hawaii Airport Task Force Grant.

A. REQUEST:
1) Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of
Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to support and participate in the Hawaii Airport Task Force
effort.
2) Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $17,300 for the Hawaii Airport Task Force.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The DEA Hawaii Airport Task Force (HATF) seeks to disrupt narcotics and dangerous drug trafficking in
Hawaii. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports this effort and seeks approval to designate an
investigator to the project. The DEA will reimburse overtime incurred by the investigator for the project up to
$17,202.25.
