Re: Bill 304 (draft 3) — Impact Fees on Develo meait and Construction
Dear Chair Yagong:
Thank you for giving as the opportunity to provide written testimony on Bill 304
(draft 3), relating to impact fees on development and construction, that is to be heard by
the council on September 21, at 9:00 a.m.
As you know, we in the construction trade have been severely impacted by the
economic downturn in our state in recent years. We seek the assistance of government to
right the ship and turn our economy around. In this regard, we are opposed to any
legislative measure that may have a negative impact on our fragile economy. Mainly for
this reason; we are against the passage of Bill 304 (draft 3).
In our experience, a vibrant construction industry reverberates throughout many
other segments of our economy and fills the coffers of state and county governments.
Hopefully, the day of economic prosperity for the people of Hawaii will be arriving soon.
The citizens of Hawaii, including our ironworker members, have suffered too long.
Please consider our opinions when you deliberate on this measure.
