Subject: Support for a ban on collection of coral reef wildlife
Dear Sirs,
I am writing in support of a ban on the collection of coral reef wildlife for display in aquaria.

The world's coral reefs are in crisis due to harvesting of coral, rising acidity, pollution and fishing and it's time to
call a halt. This small globe is under enormous pressure and this is one cause we can remove.
Fish in a tank or a jewellery made out of coral is nobody's daily bread and should not be any kind of priority.
Instead, please support responsible tourism which promotes appreciation and enjoyment of the coral
communities in situ and without damaging these precious resources.
I feel sure that tourism must be far more valuable to Hawaii than activities which decimates the coral. Banning
unsustainable exploitation of coral reefs would demonstrate a commitment to responsible use of the world's
resources which could only enhance Hawaii's reputation and increase the potential for sustainable tourism.
As stewards of one of the earth's finest habitats I hope that you are hearing support for this proposal from right
around the world.
Yours sincerely,
Heather Patrick
