Dear Committee Chair Pilago : The targeted taking of fishes from our already- stressed
reefs in inexcusable. Who gives people the right to just take what they wish from our
natural environment? Apparently, WE do - -and this should STOP.
Could you imagine people having free rein to take i'iwi, 'apapane, and our other precious
honeycreepers from the rainforest? Of course not! Why is the wholesale raping of our
reefs to supply the world's infinite fancy for "ornaments" any different? It isn't.
The taking of fish for the aquarium industry needs to STOP - -NOW!
