Honorable Council Persons:
My name is Tomoe Nimori
My concern is the impact of the proposed subdivision on safe routes to school.
Children in grades kindergarten through grade 5 who will live in this
proposed subdivision will attend either Holualoa Elementary School or Kahakai
Elementary School.
I present to you this scenario:
1. If children will attend Holualoa Elementary School, there will be
increased traffic on Puapuaanui St and Hualalai Rd.as parents
who drive their children to school and many of them would ,to
avoid the increased cost of bus fees.
2. If children will attend Kahakai Elementary School, there will be
increased traffic on Puapuaanui St, Queen Kaahumanu, Kuakini
and Lako Streets.
Children in grades 7 to 12 will attend Kealakehe Intermediate or High
School. This will mean increased traffic on Puapuaanui St., Queen
Kaahumanu, Palani or Kealakehe Parkway.
I am aware that there cannot be any restriction on the ages of families who would
live in the proposed subdivision but we must consider all possible impacts on
safe routes to school.
I therefore, ask you to disapprove this proposed high density subdivision.
