Subject: Additional testimony on Bill 270 - criminal prosecution
Aloha County Council members,
Some brief additional testimony on Bill 270.
It has just come to my attention that part of this bill would sanction criminal
prosecution for violations of building code.
This is completely unacceptable. How can you even contemplate making a citizen a criminal
for this?
As you are making essential and necessary amendments to this bill, I urge you to
completely remove Section 5 -61 re criminal prosecution.
Section 5 -60, Administrative enforcement, and section 5 -62, Injunctive action, are
available at present and are sufficient for the purpose intended.
Mahalo,
