I have been an owner- occupant of a home in the subdivision for 30 years. Lono Kona is home
to several thousand persons and has been in existence since 1960. I see places where G
Tharp developed properties to house the workers who became the shop keepers and bankers
and builders of the town. His developments created an ever expanding and vibrant Alii
Drive commercial district, too. Housing and businesses at the same time. I also see the
place where the Dalai Lama stayed on his travels through Hawaii, there is only a remnant,
and memory. The time has come to think of the future. The health and safety of the future
residents and developers. The nearby ocean is in jeopardy with the threat of algae growth
at the shoreline from over rich ground water flows. I fully support the implementation of
an sewer system for the area to keep both the ground water and the close in ocean waters
and reefs clean and safe for all who follow us. It will be good for the future
development of the area where population and sanitation go hand in hand. There seems to
be no other alternative and now is the right time to take the right action. Please support
the measures that are presented and use this process and purpose as a model for future
improvements. Thank you for your time.
