AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 3 OF THE HAWAI`1
COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO BUS STOPS AND
PUBLIC ROAD TAXI STANDS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The subject bus stop primarily serves the Connections Public Charter
School. The purpose of this measure is to accommodate the revised release time of the Connections
Public Charter School.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 3, Section 24 -275, Schedule 23. Bus stop
locations, subsection (c), South Hilo, Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended), is amended
to read as follows:
(c) South Hilo
(1) Banyan Drive, both sides, beginning from the Naniloa Hotel driveway and
extending in the mauka direction for a distance of one hundred thirty feet from
6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
(2) Fronting the Hilo Bus Terminal Building at Mo`oheau Park for a distance of
eighty feet.
(3) Hualalai Street, Hamakua side, beginning from a point three hundred twenty -
seven feet mauka of Kino`ole Street and extending eighty feet in the mauka
direction.
(4) Hualalai Street, Puna side, beginning at a point thirty feet makai of Kapi`olani
Street and extending sixty feet in the makai direction between the hours of 2:30
p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on school days only.
(5) Kamehameha Avenue, west side, beginning from a point sixty feet south of
Kalakaua Street and extending fifty feet in the southerly direction. from [2,001
12:30 p.m. to [3:00] 2:30 p.m., on school days.
(6) Kapi`olani Street, east side. beginning from a point five feet north of the Church
of Holy Apostles driveway and extending in the northern direction for a distance
of forty feet.
(7) Kapi`olani Street, west side, beginning from a point eighty -eight feet southeast of
the Hamakua entrance driveway of the University of Hawai`1 and extending in die
southeastern direction for a distance of one hundred twenty feet, from 6:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
(8) East Kdwili Street, south side, beginning from a point ninety -three feet east of the
intersection of Manono Street and East Kdwili Street and extending in the eastern
direction for a distance of one hundred twenty feet, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
Monday through Saturday.
(9) East Kdwili Street, north side, beginning from a point one hundred eighteen feet
west of the intersection of Hinano Street and East Kdwili Street and extending in
the western direction for a distance of one hundred twenty feet, from 6:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
(10) Kekuanao`a Street, south side, beginning from a point one hundred thirty -seven
feet east of the Kilauea Avenue intersection and extending in the eastern direction
for a distance of fifty feet.
(11) Kilauea Avenue, west side, beginning from a point three hundred eighty -three feet
south of Kawailani Street and extending one hundred forty -eight feet in the
southerly direction.
(12) Lanikaula Street, Puna side, beginning from a point five hundred seventy -one feet
makai of Kapi`olani Street and extending one hundred sixty -one feet in the makai
direction, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on school
days.
(13) Mohouli Street, Hamakua side, beginning at a point three hundred eighty feet
mauka of Kilauea Avenue and extending in the mauka direction for a distance of
one hundred feet, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on
school days.
(14) Waidnuenue Avenue, east side, beginning from a point sixty feet mauka of the
Hala`i Street intersection, and extending in the makai direction for a distance of
forty feet.
(15) Waidnuenue Avenue, Hamakua side, at the Hilo High School beginning at its exit
and extending for seventy -five feet in the westerly direction, from 1:30 p.m. to
3:00 p.m. on school days only.
(16) Waidnuenue Avenue, Puna side, lane within the unloading area at Hilo High
School between the passenger shed fronting the Hilo High School cafeteria and
the passenger shed near the exit of the unloading area, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
on school days.
(17) Waidnuenue Avenue, Puna side, from the makai driveway of Hilo Intermediate
School and extending one hundred eighty feet in the makai direction from 1:00
p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
(18) Waidnuenue Avenue, Puna side, beginning from a point sixty feet makai of
Kino'ole Street and extending eighty feet in the makai direction.
(19) Waidnuenue Avenue, Puna side, beginning from a point eight hundred twelve feet
makai of Laimana Street and extending two hundred twelve feet in the makai
direction from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on school days.
(20) Waidnuenue Avenue, west side, beginning from the mauka side of the Hawaii
Public Library exit driveway and extending in the mauka direction for a distance
of fifty feet.
(21) Waianuenue Avenue. west side, beginning from a point sixty feet makai of the
entrance to the Church of God, and extending in the mauka direction for a
distance of forty feet.
SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is underscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof
to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application,
and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
