SUBJECT: Amending Chapter 29, Article 2. Public Water Spigots

We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 29, Article 2. Public Water Spigots, of the
Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) be amended. The purpose of this
amendment is to make the law clear and understandable so that the water spigots will be used
fairly. Doing so, the public will avoid possible fines due to enforcement in the future. Our
department recognizes that the existing language in the code make it difficult for us to enforce.
Our proposed amendment addresses this and is attached.
