Dear Chairman Yagong and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Enock N. Freire and Marilyn L. Nicholson to the County of Hawaii Public
Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
Council District 7 — Enock N. Freire is a 31 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is a registered financial advisor,
currently employed by Anderson Wealth Planning, Inc. Mr. Freire is the International Service Chair of
Rotary Kona Sunshine and a member of the Kona Kohala Chamber of Commerce. He is also an
advisory board member of Disabled Adventures Hawai'i and Atini International (an international
community development organization). He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, Mr. Freire will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2015.
Council District 6 — Marilyn L. Nicholson is a 37 -year resident of Hawai'i. In 2007, she retired as the
Executive Director for the Volcano Art Center. Ms. Nicholson serves as a member of the Friends of
Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. She recently completed her term as a member of the County of Hawaii
Cost of Government Commission and Board of Ethics. Ms. Nicholson states that she is a Democrat. If
confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2015.
