This is not a vote to determine how much tax money will go into preserving open space. This is a vote for whether to deny or allow the citizens of Hawaii County to express our wishes at the polls. In voting on Bill 87, you will express your opinion as to whether the citizens should be able to make a policy determining how tax dollars or spent, or whether autocrats should be able to deny the citizens that right once again, in violation of campaign promises. Let's be clear: a vote against Bill 87 is a vote in favor of "taxation without representation ". A vote in favor of Bill 87 is a vote to allow the citizens - the rightful owners of Hawaii County's government and all it's revenues - to reconfirm or to change our minds about an issue which we thought we had already decided -- before the mind - readers in office decided they knew better than the voters how we would choose to vote under changed conditions. (The very same changed conditions which the 2% ordinance was created in anticipation of). Please - either let the people decide or openly declare your loyalty to the principles of Hugo Chavez and Vladimar Putin. Thank you for your vote for democracy.
