Thank you, Terry Tokuda Ask THE COUNCIL MEMBERS: To let the people decide at the polls in 2012 whether or not to make deposits of 2% of our property taxes to the land fund. What about MAINTENANCE OF THE LAND FUND? On September 7, there was discussion about including maintenance as part of the fund. Council member Ford and I have been working on an additional charter amendment which will take 1/4% of the total property tax revenue and set it aside in a fund to maintain the properties purchased with Land Fund money. We decided to write an additional charter amendment dealing with maintenance so that: 1. The council can discuss and vote on each issue separately. 2. The voters can vote on each issue separately. Some of these voters may still want to vote for the land fund, but feel that maintenance is a Parks and Recreation function. 3. I feel it's very important to honor the people that worked so hard to collect signatures and the 57 +% of us who voted twice to set aside money for the land fund. comm. No. 3 27.15 Ref. This is only to preserve and maintain the properties purchased from the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. This will be introduced soon. I will keep you posted on this issue. 9/19/2011
