Dear Council Members,
I urge you not to criminalize the fact of people living in unpermitted structures. Hawaii's cost of land and housing
is extremely high in relationship to wages. Please do not penalize people for not being as affluent as you are.
Many of us started out living in tents and unpermitted structures so that we could accumulate enough savings to
build a permitted, permanent structure. Without this option only the wealthy will be able to own property on
Hawaii.
Again, please re -think this policy; it is the opposite of aloha.
