I am opposed to bill 270 and the attempt by our council to make unpermitted structures a
criminal offense. What people build on their property is their business. If the county has
issues with that then they should fine and file civil suits. Using a barn, storage, or
HOME is not a criminal thing, its just living and farming.
In today's economy its ridiculous to give more worries to the public in regards to where
and how they will live. Would the county rather that we all move to homeless shelters?
This is rural hawaii and 'huts' are part of the allure and mystique.
Its wrong to fill farmers with fear that their banana shed or tractor port could put them
in jail.
Costs of living, and building, in hawaii are very high and many people cannot afford to
rent and build. What's wrong with living in a tent /shed while your home is being built?
Whom shall search for infractions, and enforce, this law?
