There should not be criminal charges for code violations. Any such law should deal with "going forward new" violations only, and infractions should be civil, not criminal. Particularly in this economic climate, people need SHELTER. Alternative building codes need to be considered, rather than more rigid adherence to current codes. CoMM. (2g.Z Page 1 of 1 p(couMcxl.. CLL, Cr) .n0 J ■ nU Alternative codes for rural low density building should include such things as possible bamboo structures, and energy systems for people who are not rabid consumers but rather who try to walk lightly on the earth. This is a State in which people have lived close to the earth for generations. Now mainland codes are being rammed down the throats of people who don't even want to live in homes like that.
