Dear Chairman Yagong and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Jon Olson of Council District 5 to the County of
Hawaii Transportation Commission. Mr. Olson is a 33 -year resident of Hawaii, and has
been retired since 2000.
Mr. Olson is the Vice Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3 -19. He is
also a member of the Puna Friends of the Park, Pahoa Main Street and the Puna Traffic
Safety Council. He states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed, Mr. Olson will serve a
term to expire on December 31, 2014, replacing Elizabeth Hultman - Salfen whose term
expired on December 31, 2009.
