Dear Chairman Yagong and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawai'i Salary
Commission:
Council District 2 — Brian J. De Lima is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is an attorney
at Crudele & De Lima, Attorneys at Law. He is also the Big Island Representative to the
Board of Education. From 1990 to 1996, Mr. De Lima was a member and former chair
of the Hawai'i County Council, and from 1984 to 1996 he served on the Board of
Directors for the Boys and Girls Club. Mr. De Lima states that he is a Democrat. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2015, replacing Newton Inouye
whose term expired on December 31, 2010.
Council District 3 — Marcella L. Stroh is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. Since 1970 she
has been employed by Central Pacific Bank where she is currently a Vice President 11
and the Senior Commercial Manager for the Big Island. Ms. Stroh is a member and
past president of the American Heart Association and a member of the Hawaii
Economic Opportunity Council. She is also a member and secretary of both the Hilo
Medical Center Foundation and the Big Island Amateur Boxing Association. Ms. Stroh
states that she is a Democrat. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2015, replacing Searle Grace, whose term expired on December 31,
2010.

Council District 7 — George J. Handgis is a 17 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is the
president of Gentrys Kona Marina, Vice Chair of the Governor's Small Business
Regulatory Review Board (SBRRB), a member of the Kona Crime Prevention
Committee and a Trustee of the Jonathan Dale Miller Foundation. Mr. Handgis states
that he is a Republican. If confirmed, he will serve the remainder of a term that has
been vacant since December 31, 2007. That term will expire on December 31, 2012,
and at that time Mr. Handgis will be eligible to serve a full term that will expire on
December 31, 2017.
