The County of Hawaii has been awarded a total of $321,268 in federal funds from Lle
State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General for FY 2011 -12. These funds fife
for the purpose of supporting the Victim of Crimes Act (VOCA) program. VOCA
provides salaries and wages for five staff, sub - grants for direct services to victims of
sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, child abuse, and limited operating
expenses.
A Victim of Crimes Act account was appropriated for $300,000 in anticipation of grant
funding for FY2011 -12. On September 29, 2011, the Prosecutor's Office was notified
that VOCA funding was increased from $300,000 to $315,033. Additionally, on
September 15, 2011, they were notified that an additional $6,235 was made available
for the VOCA program. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating
Budget by appropriating the additional funds into this account, bringing the total grant
appropriation to $321,268.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Nancy Kelly of the Prosecuting
Attorney's office at 934 -3315.
