Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 331-00, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 331-00, transmittedjointly with Bill No. 331 by Director of Finance Dixie
Kaetsu, via Communication No. 948, dated October 2, 2000, authorizes the County of Hawaii to
enter into an agreement with the State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for an
Aging Institute of Hawaii grant.
The State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, has authorized funding for a training
institute on aging for the County of Hawaii for the purpose of providing persons seeking jobs in
the field of aging with opportunities to receive appropriate education, training, and information;
improving worker skills and providing opportunities for advancement; perpetuating and
expanding education and training opportunities by establishing an ongoing "train-the trainer"
program; and improving services to older persons..
Pursuant to Section 46-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments obtain the consent of the
council to enter into agreements with the state governments respecting action to be taken
pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 331-00
and recommends its adoption.
