Franchise Cable Television in Hawai`i
On June 21, 2011, Governor Neil Abercrombie signed into law House Bill 1342, which is the
first step in the expansion of broadband, or ultra high -speed internet assess in the State of
Hawai`i.
State of Hawai`i Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs Cable Television Division
Administrator Mr. Donn Yabusaki, would like to give a brief informational talk regarding
franchise cable television in Hawai`i, and answer any questions the Council may have.
I am requesting that this communication be placed in the Committee on Governmental
Relations meeting that is scheduled for November 1, 2011.
