Re: Comm. No. 410/Bill No. 119
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 119, reports as follows:
Bill 119, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 410, dated
October 5, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11 -59, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June
30, 2012. The amendment is as follows:

010.3303.00 Federal Grants — Volunteer Fire Assistance General $46,457.50
To:
010.251.5221.38 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant General $46,457.50
The bill amends the Operating Budget by increasing the total appropriation in the Volunteer Fire
Assistance Grant account by $46,457.50, bringing the total appropriation to $96,457.50. The
State of Hawai`i Department of Land and Natural Resources has authorized a $96,457.50,
federally derived Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant to the Hawai`i Fire Department. The grant's
purpose is to provide for training and the acquisition of equipment as specified under the
Volunteer Fire Assistance program.
Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.

recommends it pass first reading.
