Re: Comm. No. 417/Bill No. 124
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 124, reports as follows:
Bill 124, transmitted jointly with Resolution 179 -11, by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via
Communication No. 417, dated October 5, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11 -59, as amended, the
Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2012. The amendment is as follows:

010.3308.80 Federal Grants — Community Based Child Abuse
Prevention General $ 4,995
To:
010.111.5111.69 Community Based Child Abuse Prevention General $4,995
The bill amends the Operating Budget by appropriating this $ 4,995 Community Based Child
Abuse Prevention Grant. The State of Hawaii Department of Health, Maternal & child Health
Branch is providing federally derived funds of $4,995 for the purpose of supporting the Office of
the Mayor /Immigration Information Office's Community Based Child Abuse Prevention
program.
Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.

Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 124, and
recommends it pass first reading.
