Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution
No. 181 -11, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 181 -11, from Assistant Corporation Counsel Katherine Garson, via
Communication No. 427, dated October 6, 2011 accepting the dedication of a portion of road
lots R -1, R -2, R -3 and R -4, being a portion of tax map key: (3) 6 -8- 038:039, situated at
Waikoloa, District of South Kohala, Island and County of Hawai`i, State of Hawai`i, (Sunset
Ridge at Waikoloa, Phase 3, Unit 4) from Sunset Ridge Joint Venture.
These roadway lots, for public road and drainage purposes, received dedication approval from
applicable County agencies.
Former Councilmember Curtis Tyler testified and cautioned Committee members that the
language in the letters from each Department giving "approvals" for dedications should be
consistent and clearly state the projects are in "full compliance" rather than simply "meet
standards of'. He commented that the difference is very important and Corporation Counsel
should check that the language complies with the requirements in the code.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Resolution No. 181 -11, and recommends its adoption.
