In order to expedite confirmation of these nominations in time for the December 13, 2011 meeting of the Puna CDP Action Committee I respectfully request waiver from reading before committee and that these nominations be considered by the full Council at the earliest opportunity. Nafie, Kelly Lee (4 -year term): Ms. Nafie has a BA degree in Psychology and MA in Intercultural Service, Leadership & Management. She has extensive experience coordinating educational programs and community based projects. She has demonstrated both a sincere passion for community service and a positive can -do attitude. Despite her relatively short three years as a resident in Kalapana Seaview Estates, Kelly has established many contacts in the Puna community and volunteered her services at several community events and activities. She brings a more youthful perspective to the AC that should serve well to represent the younger generation of Puna residents and will undoubtedly be a positive role model for them. Pinto, Patti Annginette (4 -year term): Ms. Pinto has 27 years experience as an educator on the mainland and has more recently been active in counseling chemically dependent children at the Big Island Substance Abuse Council. As a resident of Fern Acres she has been active in her local community and has a keen interest in finding solutions to the transportation issues facing Puna. Patti also brings prior community planning experience from her service on a CDP Planning Committee in Pasadena, CA. Her collaborative attitude and strong sense of responsibility to follow through on personal commitments will make her a valued and respected asset to the Action Committee.
