Crawford Director Deanna S. Sako Deputy Director MOO Re: Capital Budget On March 11, 2011, an earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku, Japan generated a tsunami which reached Hawaii, damaging Ali`i Drive and other facilities in the Kona area. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing funds to be used for the repair of these damages. Normally, FEMA covers 75% of the cost, with the balance provided by County matching funds; however, in this case, portions of the project are ineligible to be paid for by FEMA, and are to be covered by the County. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the project titled "Tsunami Damage Projects ", and appropriating $351,000 to the Capital Budget of which $36,000 is provided by FEMA, and $315,000 by the County. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Warren H.W. Lee, Director of the Department of Public Works at 961 -8324.
