Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 343-00, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 343-00, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 341 by Director of Finance
Dixie Kaetsu, via Communication No. 963, dated October 16, 2000, authorizes the County of
Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii for a Hamakua Traffic Safety
Council grant.
The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program has
authorized funding to provide an opportunity for community involvement through public
awareness and assistance with traffic safety issues in the Honoka`a Community.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state govemments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 343-00
and recommends its adoption.
