Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 1073,
and attached Bill No. 338, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 338 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, Section 24-281,
Schedule 9 (Parking prohibited during certain hours on certain streets; tow-away zone),
Subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition), by deleting the
following item:
"[(12) That unnamed roadway serving Costco, located .4 mile mauka of the Queen
Kaahumanu Highway and running parallel to Kanalani Street, Kaloko Light
Industrial Subdivision, from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.]"
Bill No. 338 would also amend chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, Section 24-281, Schedule 29
(Pazking prohibited during certain hours on certain streets; tow-away zone), Subsection (f) \
Kona, of the Hawaii County Code (1995 Edition), by adding the following to be appropriately
numbered and to read as follows:
Kamanu Street, Kaloko Light Industrial Subdivision, from 10:00 p.m.
to 5:00 a.m."
Communication No. 1073 is from Council Member J. Curtis Tyler, III, dated November 6,
1998, transmitting Bill No. 338 for the Council's review and consideration. Mr. Tyler
informed Your Committee that this request came from the Hawaii County Police Department
Kona Office as police officers monitored the area.

Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 338, and recommends that
it pass first reading.
