Dear Chairman Yagong and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Neal F. Herbert of Council District 1 to the County of
Hawaii Transportation Commission. Mr. Herbert is a retired, 14-year resident of
Hawaii. From 2001 to 2007, he was a Project Engineer/Manager with SSFM
International Inc. He also spent 28 years, from 1960 to 1988, as a member and an
officer of the U. S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Herbert currently serves as a board member of the Hawai'i Island Veterans
Memorial and the Paukaa Community Association. He is also the vice president of the
Big Island Retired Military Association and the Director of the Hilo Council, Navy
League. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will
serve a vacant term to expire on December 31, 2015.
