RESOLUTION NO. 199 12
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
DONATION OF OXYGEN DELIVERY SYSTEMS FOR USE BY THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT'S EMS STATIONS
WHEREAS, the North Hawai`i Community Hospital is donating Oxygen
Delivery Systems to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the equipment consists of twenty (20) Emergent Respiratory
Products Port-O -Vent CPAP Oxygen Delivery Systems; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with a total value of $32,444.16, will be used
by the Hawaii Fire Department's 15 (fifteen) EMS stations plus five (5) spare
units, to afford a non - invasive option for EMS practitioners to provide respiratory
support through a mask rather than the invasive endotracheal intubation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations
of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County
Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property
which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may
be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of
this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawai'i County Code, the
Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of
this resolution be sent to the North Hawaii Community Hospital, 67 -1125
Mamalahoa Highway, Kamuela, HI 96743, acknowledging this generous
donation.
