RESOLUTION NO. 206 12
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF
$1,000 TO THE HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT TO BE USED TO PURCHASE
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES TO PREPARE THE DEPARTMENT FOR DISASTER
SITUATIONS
WHEREAS, Target is donating $1,000 to the Hawaii Police Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase two (2) laptop computers to track
personnel that are assisting in disaster situations and for PowerPoint training; and
WHEREAS, Article XI II, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30,
Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money,
securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the
Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that cash
donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process;
and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution
be sent to Bethany Broberg, Executive Team Leader of Assets Protection, T2412 Kailua-
Kona, HI, 74 -5455 Makala Blvd., Kailua -Kona, HI 96740 acknowledging this generous
donation.
