Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 200-12, reports as follows:
Resolution 200-12, transmitted by Council Member Brenda Ford via Communication No. 503,
dated December 8, 2011, requesting the County Clerk to initiate a two year pilot program to
provide computers and printers for public use to access electronic information.
Mr. Yagong resumed chair of the Finance Committee.
Ms. Ford commented that this proposed resolution was the outcome of previous discussions
related to unclaimed properties. The public would have access to computers and printers at the
Hawai`i County Building in Hilo, the Pahoa Council Office, the Waimea Council Office, and at
Building A of the West Hawai`i Civic Center, and shall be restricted to appropriate governmental
websites.
Some Members commented on: 1) clarification of exact location of computers and printers at
proposed sites, 2) expansion of computer use for other purposes; 3) acquiring refurbished
computers, 4) internet connection and possible server concerns; and 5) developing and
implementing the pilot program.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution 200-12, and
recommends its adoption.
