Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication No. 510, reports as follows:
Communication No. 510, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated December 12, 2011,
requests the favorable nomination of Delbert Nishimoto to the Hawai`i County Veterans
Advisory Committee. Mr. Nishimoto is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i. He is presently the East
Hawai`i field representative for U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye. Mr. Nishimoto states that he is a
Democrat.
Mr. Nishimoto is presently serving in this position which expired on December 31, 2011. If he is
confirmed, he will serve a new full term to expire on December 31, 2016.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura informed the Members of the
Committee that Mr. Nishimoto was not able to attend today's meeting, however, would be
available for questions at the next full Council meeting.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Communication No. 510, and recommends confirmation of Mr. Nishimoto to the
Hawai`i Veterans Advisory Committee. It was agreed by all Members present that he would not
have to appear before the full Council.
