Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 76-99, transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro per Communication No. 247, dated April 9, 1999, regarding the
naming of a street in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 76-99 authorizes the naming of the unnamed roadway within the Puukapu
Homesteads, I s' Series, Waimea, South Kohala, in the County of Hawaii. Pursuant to
Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22, Hawaii County Code, the Council is authorized to adopt
street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways. The Planning Commission at its
April 1, 1999 meeting, voted to recommend the adoption of the street name to "Waikelehua
Place", which is named after the gulch/stream above the project area.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 76-99, and
recommends its adoption.
