In order to expedite confirmation of these nominations I respectfully request waiver from reading before committee and that these nominations be considered by the full Council at the earliest opportunity. 1. Cipriani, Frank (4 -year term): Mr. Cipriani is a 35 year resident of North Kohala and is President of Biofarms Hawai'i LLC, which has developed an algae culturing system that is used for a broad range of products. He has a strong interest in a sustainable future for diversified agriculture and aquaculture projects in Kohala, and will bring a valued and important perspective to the Action Committee. 2. MacKillop, Christopher (4 -year term): Mr. MacKillop was born and raised and is a current resident of North Kohala. Mr. MacKillop is an owner of a small landscaping company. He helped build the Waimea Native Park with the Waimea Outdoor Circle and then started the North Kohala Outdoor Circle. He was President of the North Kohala Outdoor Circle from 2002 to 2009 and is currently the Vice President of Friends of Keokea Beach Park. He feels his experience as a leader of non - profit groups of volunteers has given him the experience and skills needed to work with the community. 3. Winter, John (4 -year term): Mr. Winter is a 4 year resident of North Kohala. Mr. Winter has a PhD in Geology and has been a professor at Whitman College since 1981. He has been very active as a member in the following community groups: Sustainable Kohala, North Kohala CERT, Lions Club, and the North Kohala CDP Infrastructure A subcommittee. Despite his relatively short 4 years as a resident in Kapaau, he has established many contacts in the North Kohala community and volunteered his services to several community events and activities. Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Planning to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Planning for placement on its future agenda.
