Ferreira Depusy Police Chief In compliance with the semi - annual reporting requirement of Chapter 14, Article 16, Section 14 -102 (2) of the Hawai'i County Code, the following island -wide statistics have been compiled for the period beginning November 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011. A total of 177 persons were arrested for marijuana offenses under Hawaii State Law. These include the offenses ranging from commercial promotion of marijuana in the first degree to promoting a detrimental drug in the third degree. Collectively, the arrestees account for a total of 262 marijuana cases. One (1) citation for a penal summons appearance was also issued during the same time period. In addition, a total of $12,515.00 in cash and 7 vehicles were seized for forfeiture. Theses figures do not make any distinction between: • Marijuana arrests that were incidental to, or resulted from other criminal investigations; • Arrests stemming from the distribution of marijuana; • Bench Warrants, Grand Jury Indictments, Information Charging or Penal Summons arrests that were the result of investigations initiated prior to the effective date of the ordinance; • Arrests for marijuana offenses that had occurred on public property. This report does not include any arrests of, or citations issued to, anyone under the age of 21. The Hawaii Police Department did not assist any federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies with marijuana eradication missions in Hawaii County during this time period. The department currently does not keep statistics of the time and money expended by the County on the enforcement and punishment of marijuana offenses.
